Peter Jacquemyn & John Dikeman

 Citadelic festival 2022

MAY 25 - 18H
   PETER JACQUEMYN QUARTET
indie impro with enchanting Tibetan guttural sounds

Visual artist/music maker Peter Jacquemyn can be seen at work in his studio with a chainsaw or axe. On stage he struggles with his double bass and makes his strings vibrate with many objects. He has been improvising for years on stages large and small, both at home and abroad (FUNDAMENT, Evan Parker, ….). High time to have his own band again, Jacquemyn must have thought when recruiting all these beautiful people.

His fellow players are also to reckon with:

With keywords: Polish/Italian, guitarist, Deus, Evil Superstars, Kiss my Jazz you will probably end up at Mauro. There is only one. Famous and infamous with its multitude of side projects are almost impossible to count John Dikeman, hobby boxer and free jazz composer traveled the world with his saxophone before landing in Antwerp via Amsterdam. He played with Jasper Stadhouders, Onno Govaert Tollef Østvang, Jon Rune Strøm, William Parker, Hamid Drake, Andrew Barker, Dirk Serries, Steve Noble, Luis Vicente, Aleksandar škorić, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Metropole Orchestra and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. Ok yes, we are convinced.

Multidisciplinary jazz drummer Erik Thielemans is difficult to put in a box. He is an eternal seeker, always pushing the limits of percussion. He has been roaming the Belgian jazz landscape since the eighties and now is following completely its own path, conducting for exemple research at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Conservatory.

John Dikeman - tenor saxophone
Mauro Pawlowski - guitar
Peter Jacquemyn - double bass & voice
Eric Thielemans - drums
