The french-americain duo succeeds in uniting their souls through music. With deep respect for the legacy of John Coltrane and his peers, they seek their own musical path through expression and improvisation. Developing their duo, they research an explosive and/or meditative way of playing and breathing and draw principally their inspiration from saxophone/drum duos from the late 60' early 70'.

They have recorded their debut album in the summer of 2024, at the Alhambra and will release end of the year.

Motian Love is a tribute to the beautiful music of the great drummer and composer Paul Motian. The band takes the listener into the sound and repertoire of the legendary trio of Joe Lovano and Bill Frisell. Drummer and bandleader Nico Chkifi has carefully selected some of his favorite Motian compositions to bring them to life in the company of old and new friends. Playing as a quintet with 2 tenor saxophones and 2 guitars allows the band to go further in their interaction and search for textures and sounds. Motian Love is an open love letter to the spirit and music of Paul Motian, for which we are all eternally grateful.
