CITADELIC #14
AUGUST 13 . 17H
reservoir ghosts
new international band, contemporary jazz, improv
In a castle of memory, following an intuitive flow, four bodies and minds wander, meet and interact.
Brought together by Samuel Ber (Malaby/Dumoulin/Ber, MikMâäk, Benoît Delbecq), Reservoir Ghosts is a new quartet with Copenhagen-based saxophone player Lotte Anker (Anker/Taborn/Cleaver, trio with Sylvie Courvoisier and Ikue Mori, Fred Frith, Marylin Crispell, Andrew Cyrille), American cellist Daniel Levin (Tony Malaby, Mat Maneri, Anthony Braxton, Joe Morris, Chris Corsano, ...), two strongly original figures in contemporary jazz and the experimental and improvised music scene, and young bass player Soet Kempeneer.
The instrumentation of 2 string instruments, saxophone and drums allows each musician to free themselves from their instrument’s traditional role.
Samuel Ber’s compositions, from songs to macro-architectures, written for these specific musicians, aim to provide a space to each performer to express themselves, freely yet with focus.
