CRUZ CONTROL

Cruz controL are a Belgian 4-piece who create a lush, fluid and occasionally unsettling sound; alternately intimate and chaotic, and immediately recognisable as their own. Blending genres and eschewing stereotypes, they splice jazz, prog-rock, funk and avant-garde without ever letting go of the groove.

Cruz controL began life with the first public performance of "Scat" played as a piano/saxophone duet at the Gaume Jazz Festival in 2004. The duet has evolved into a quartet, becoming a 'research lab' for new progressive compositions and arrangements. From 2007 onwards, they perform regularly in venues such as l'An Vert, Open Jazz Festival, Brussels Jazz Marathon, N'8 Jazz …

In 2010, the band is selected by Ça Balance, which leads to the opportunity of a working residency with Peter Hertmans, who also guides them through the recording of their new album in 2011. This proves to be a very fruitful experience and the band acquires more maturity and cohesion, as demonstrated by the warm audience reception of their 2011 concerts season (Jazz à Liège, Jazz at Comblain-La-Tour, Jazz à Huy …).

In autumn 2012, "le Comment du pOurqÙoi?" is released on Belgian label Mogno Music.
