'Klare's blustery saxes, de Joode's aggressive and physical bass playing, and Vatcher's ultra-dynamic approach to the proceedings make for one finely balanced and continually surprising ensemble' (Cadence).

1000 is a german/ dutch/ belgium/ american band – not a so called "project", but a "working band": The group has build a remarkable list of concerts, festival appearances, cd releases and reviews since its foundation in 2004. The quartet is called "1000″, because one-thousand is large number.
»1000«, consisting of the "rhythm-dream-team": de Joode/ Vatcher and the (musical) "twins" Maris/ Klare, is at home in the world of improvised music, but still deals intensively with compositions by a.o. Klare, Ravel, Pergolesi. Their musical language and strategy of communication is almost telepathically and has crystallised in the course of many concerts. With "1000″ composition and its improvisational development go hand in hand, the band masterfully manages to add a Higgs particle to any burgeoning idea in order transform this idea into composed universe. The repertoire is complex, but never static – the music stays solid at any moment.
'Klare's blustery saxes, de Joode's aggressive and physical bass playing, and Vatcher's ultra-dynamic approach to the proceedings make for one finely balanced and continually surprising ensemble' (Cadence).
The line-up:
Jan Klare (DE) - reeds
Bart Maris – trumpet
Wilbert de Joode (NL) – double bass
Michael Vatcher (US) – drums
