Percussionist Seijiro Murayama werd geboren in 1957 in Nagasaki, Japan. Hij begon met geïmproviseerde muziek in 1972, onder enige invloed van Vinko Globokar en musicoloog Fumio Koizumi. Na studies in Urdu aan de Tokyo University in 1982 toerde hij de VS met Keiji Haino als onderdeel van de rudimentaire psychedelische band Fushitsusha. Terugkerend naar Japan na een periode in New York bleef hij drums en elektronica spelen in K.K. Null's noise / rockband A.N.P. (Absolut Null Punkt), onderwijl vrije improvisatie verder verkennend. Een passage in Frankrijk bracht samenwerkingen ook uitgebreid tot dans, theater en performance en de lopende samenwerking met musici Jean-Luc Guionnet, Eric Cordier, Michel Doneda, Mattin, Lionel Marchetti, onder vele anderen. Improvisatie is altijd de grote zorg voor hem, ook al is het niet zijn artistieke doel. Zijn benadering is gebaseerd op de aandacht voor ruimte en plaats, de energie van het publiek en de kwaliteit en beleving van stilte op verschillende niveaus.

Born in Paris (1988), graduated from Brussel Royal Conservatory (master degree in piano Jazz) currently living in Tokyo, Japan. Léo Dupleix is an electronic musician, piano player, mainly working in the improvised and experimental field. He use simple electronic devices, such as mixing board, pianet (electric piano from the 70's) pick ups, synthesizers, to create unique tones and textures, and in parallel continue to develop his own sound on the acoustic piano. He is the leader-coleader of the bands « Tandaapushi », and « Fantome », both based in Brussels.
Besides that, he also cultivate a more trans-disciplinary approach, participate in the long running Berlin-Brussels and Dance-Music improvisation collective « siebengeiste », composed music for cinema (Zinneke, short movie), participated in the performance of plastician artist Bonom, and played music for theater (ARS, festival d'avignon).
He played / collaborated with: Junji Hirose, Naoto Yamagishi, Pak Yan Lau, Lauri Hyvarinen, Ura Hiroyuki, Gregor Siedl, Niels Van Heertum, Jakob Warmenbol, Laurens Smet, Lynn Cassiers, Yannick Dupont, Louis Evrard, Guillaume Orti, Antoine Viard, Greg Tirtiaux, Maki Hachiya, Kou Katsuyoshi, Rabito Arimoto, Daisuke Takaoka, Seppe Gebruers, Yuta Yokoyama, Shoita Kouyama, Akemi Nagao, Michael Tuttle...

Percussionist Seijiro Murayama was born in 1957 in Nagasaki, Japan. He started performing improvised music in 1972, under some influence of Vinko Globokar and musicologist Fumio Koizumi. After graduated from Tokyo University in 1982 in Urdu studies he toured the USA with Keiji Haino as part of the seminal psychedelic band Fushitsusha. Returning to Japan after a period in NYC he continued playing drums and electronics in K.K. Null's noise/rock band A.N.P. (Absolut Null Punkt), while further exploring free improvisation. A relocation to France in 1999 led to collaborations that extended into dance, theatre and performance as well as ongoing partnerships with musicians Jean-Luc Guionnet, Eric Cordier, Michel Doneda, Mattin, Lionel Marchetti, among many others. After over a decade in Europe he relocated back to Japan in 2013.
Improvisation is always the major concern for him, even if it is not his artistic goal. His approach is based on the attention to space and place, to the energy of the audience and to the quality and perception of silence on various levels.

Percussionniste, Seijiro Murayama travaille en France depuis 1999, après presque 20 ans de parcours musicaux dans le domaine de la musique improvisée. Son travail est focalisé, en partilculier, sur la collaboration entre la musique et d'autres activités artistiques : danse (Catherine Diverrès), video (Olivier Gallon), peintures (François Bidault), photos (Purpose.fr), litterature, philosophie (Jean-Luc Nancy, Ray Brassier), performance (Diego Chamy) etc. Cela ne l'empêche pas d'avoir de nombreux projets purement sonores (avec Jean-Luc Guionnet, Pascale Criton, Eric Cordier, Eric La Casa, Axel Dörner, Tim Blechmann, Seymour Wright, Toshimaru Nakamura, Toshiya Tsunoda). Pour lui, l'improvisation est son souci artistique majeur même si, en public, il n'exerce pas toujours cette pratique. Son approche est basée sur l'attention à l'espace et au lieu, à l'énergie du public et notamment à la qualité du silence à des niveaux différents (physique, social, onthologique). Il est en train d'approfondir des réflexions notamment sur la question de l'idiomatique et le non-idiomatique - "Idioms and Idiots" (avec Jean-Luc Guionnet, Mattin, Ray Brassier 2009). Depuis 2010, il est le curateur du festival " Personal and Collective" à Ljubljana, en Slovenie.
