Pak Yan Lau is geboren in België maar heeft Chinese roots (Hong Kong). Tegenwoordig legt ze zich vooral toe op improvisatie en op muziek in verhouding tot klank/geluid. En ze koestert ook een bijzondere voorliefde voor voorwerpen en in het bijzonder voor speelgoedpiano's.

Frederik Leroux tovert ongehoorde, soms bevreemdende, maar steeds fascinerende klankcreaties uit gitaar en banjo. Met een groot respect voor de traditie tracht Frederik Leroux voortdurend nieuwe wegen te bewandelen. Hij haalt niet alleen inspiratie uit jazz, ook moderne concertmuziek, minimalisme, surrealisme en vrije improvisatie sijpelen door in zijn muziek.

Eerder dit jaar konden we al vaststellen dat de jonge Antwerpse muzikant Raphael Malfliet niet zinnens is om verhapbare doorsneemuziek te maken. Met zijn release Noumenon Met Todd Neufeld en Carlo Costa in trio gooit hij hoge ogen. Hoe klinkt hij als solist? Kom gerust luisteren.

Pak Yan Lau is born in Belgium but has Chinese roots (Hong Kong). Nowadays, she mainly focuses on improvisation and music in relation to sound / audio. She has a special love for items, especially for toy pianos.

Frederik Leroux captures unheard of, sometimes alarming, yet fascinating sound creations from guitar and banjo. With great respect for the tradition, Frederik Leroux constantly tries to find new paths to try out. He not only captures inspiration from jazz, you will also spot contemporary concert music, minimalism, surrealism and free improvisation in his music.

Earlier this year, we could establish that the young Antwerp musician Raphael Malfliet hasn't got the tendency to go for readily made, every day music. With his release Noumenon featuring Todd Neufeld en Carlo Costa in trio he has made a stand. How does he sound when he plays solo? Well, ome and listen to it...
