Erik Vermeulen behoort tot de meest fijnzinnige pianisten van ons land. Pyrotechniek is niet aan hem besteed, melancholische eenheidsworst evenmin. Zowat de enige constante in zijn werk is de heterogeniteit ervan - zowel qua inspiratie als qua sound.

Composities van eigen makelij worden afgewisseld met improvisaties van verschillende allure en een selectie uit het standaardrepertoire. De combinatie van de veelkleurigheid in de piano, de polyfonie van de bas en de ritmische subtiliteit bij de drums leveren telkens weer een andere atmosfeer op.
De Italiaanse bassist Manolo Cabras speelde met bekende landgenoten waaronder Enrico Rava, Giovanni Guidi en Paolo Fresu. Daarnaast is hij al twee decennia lang een vaste waarde op de Belgische jazzscène, vaak met zijn ritme sectie vriend de Tsjechische drummerMarek Patrman

Erik Vermeulen is one of the most discerning pianists in the country. Pyrotechnics are not his thing, nor is melancholic similitude. The only constant in his work seems to be the heterogeneity of what inspires him, as well as that of his sound.

His own works are interspersed with a wide range of improvisations and selections from the standard catalogue. The combination of the multicolouredness of the piano, the polyphonic landscapes of the bass and the rhythmic subtlety of the drums create a very individual atmosphere.

The Italian bass player Manolo Cabras played with famous compatriots including Enrico Rava, Giovanni Guidi and Paolo Fresu. In addition, he has been a fixture in the Belgian jazz scene for two decades, most of the time accompanied by his regular rhythm section friend the Czech drummer Marek Patrman.
