De Japanse Aya Suzuki leerde muziek op haar zesde rn begon marimba te spelen op haar twaalfde. Ze volgde les in Tokyo bij de befaamde percussioniste Keiko Abe. Na haar studies won ze de ene prijs na de andere: 1ste prijs op Marimba Spiritual Contest 2012, 1ste prijs op de Internationale Wedstrijd voor Marimba en Drums Contest 2013 in Polen en finaliste in de South California Marimba Competition om er maar enkele op te noemen.

Kunstenaar Paul Van Gysegem stond aan de wieg van de experimentele free-jazz van de jaren 70. Met de opnames 'Aorta' van zijn sextet leverde hij een belangrijke bijdrage aan de Europese (free) jazz. Vanuit zijn veelzijdige persoonlijkheid heeft hij een manier gevonden om de actuele jazzmuziek te verweven met zijn werk als kunstschilder/beeldhouwer. De vormentaal die hij hanteert staat dicht bij de geest en de structuur – de manier van denken - van de muziek die hij speelt. In de geïmproviseerde muziek vindt hij het belangrijk om een verwante ingesteldheid te ontdekken bij hen die samenkomen om muziek te maken.

Aya Suzuki started studying music at the age of six. When she was twelve, she took up the marimba and percussion and went on to study at the Toho-Gakuen school of music in Tokyo, where she was taught by the world-renowned marimba player Keiko Abe. This led up to the 1st prize in the contest of Marimba Spiritual in 2012, the 1st prize in the marimba competition at the Drum Festival in Poland (including the overall GrandPrix) and she was a finalist of the South California International Marimba Competition (SCIMC).

Artist Paul Van Gysegem stood at the cradle of the experimental free jazz of the seventies. With the album 'Aorta' of his sextet he made an important contribution to European (free) jazz. From his versatile personality, he has found a way to interweave contemporary jazz music with his work as an artist/sculptor. The form language he uses is close to the spirit and the structure - the way of thinking - of the music he plays. In improvised music he finds it rudimentary to discover a related attitude among those who come together to make music.
